Soil Management Right Issued to "Tatstone" LLC for Litchq Copper Mining Terminated

Soil Management Right Issued to "Tatstone" LLC for Litchq Copper Mining Terminated

By the order of Acting Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan dated on May 12, 2021, the soil management right of Litchq copper mine issued to "Tatstone" LLC in Syunik Region was terminated.

The reason for termination of soil management right mentioned is the non-performance of mining operations, as well as the arrears of the company in terms of environmental protection and monitoring in the amount of 100,490 and 250,000 AMD for 2020, respectively.

“Tatstone” LLC was issued a written warning in March 2020 regarding the above-mentioned violations, requesting that the violations be remedied within 90 days. The latter made the required payments, submitted the instructions for their payment to the authorized body, but did not carry out any mining operations.

It should be noted that the mining capital works carried out at the mine have been suspended since 2018.

A question arises as to which body will restore the lands violated as a result of the mining and capital works carried out by "Tatstone" LLC in case of termination of its soil management right.
