On June 6, 2023, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a resolution to establish an interdepartmental working group on the construction of a new nuclear power unit and approve its members. The group will conduct analyzes and discuss the feasibility of building a new nuclear power unit in the Republic of Armenia, deploying small modular reactors, as well as selecting the necessary technologies, as well as consider matters about determining the sequence of further steps.
