From June 26, 2023, aviation-biological combat activities have launched in the forests of Armenia. According to the announcement by Environment Ministry, the aerial fight was carried out by chemical method in previous years, whereas a transition was made to biological method this year.
The measures will be implemented in the forest areas infested with pests and other diseases inVayots Dzor, Aragatsotn and Hrazdan "Forestry" branches of the Forestry Committee of Armforest SCNO of Forest Committee of Environment Ministry.
According to the draft decision "On approving the forestry policy, strategy and national action plan of the Republic of Armenia" fpr 2016-2021, according to the results of the forest pathology studies carried out in 2016-2021, the forested areas infected with pests and diseases in the "Forestry" branches of "ArmForest" SNCO amounted to about 70 thousand ha, but the number of pests and diseases the works of aviation chemical control against diseases were carried out only in 2016, 2018 and 2021 on 19 thousand 503 ha of forested areas.
It should also be noted that currently there are 8,269 completely dry pine trees in "Sevan" National Park.
