On February 7, 2024, during a question-and-answer session with the Armenian government in the RA National Assembly, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the issue of donating 21.8% and 12.5% of shares to the RA government by Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC) and Lydian Armenia, respectively.
“We do not have such a case to knock on a person's door, and say now, dear investor, 20% of what you have is ours. We have a case when a new investor comes and he says, I want to invest this 20%. It was not the government that told ZCMC to give me 20%, but they did it on time," Nikol Pashinyan noted.
Turning to the issue of Amulsar mining, Nikol Pashinyan said: "Regarding Amulsar, we faced the following dilemma. on the one hand, there was a problem of the legitimacy of public perception, on the other hand, there are investments, how to get out of this impasse.
The investor told us that he does not want to have an internal conflict, these companies have stories behind them, he said that I do not want to share the burden of that history at the expense of my business reputation and I do not want to be the heir to this notorious history. He appealed to the government to stand by him, so that everyone can see that he is not taking away from the country, he is bringing into the country, because it is necessary for his business reputation,” Nikol Pashinyan said.
