The experimental whitefish industrial fishing program in Lake Sevan initiated by RA Environment Ministry should end on November 30, when the whitefish already bears caviar. "Whitefish and caviar are freely sold in the markets of Yerevan." In addition, the sellers kindly offer to clean the belly of the fish for the buyer to take the caviar.
It is obvious that there is no proper control over fishing in this chaotic situation in the country.
We call for the cessation of this pilot project in order not to have the complete destruction of fish stocks in Lake Sevan and to ensure the country's food security.
