RA Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case for defaulting on the protection duties of "Sevan" National Park in case of 110 buildings in violation of the legislation in the central ecological zone of the lake. The press release of the Prosecutor's Office says:
Thus, the studies show that the competent officials of "Sevan" National Park SNCO, using their official position against the interests of the service, did not fulfill their responsibilities for the protection of "Sevan" National Park.
As a result, in the areas adjacent to Lake Sevan, below the absolute mark of 1905.0 meters, in violation of the requirements of RA legislation, there are 110 main objects (buildings) of public and industrial significance, occupying a total area of about 110,371 square meters were acquired in 2011-2020 in violation of Article 6 (1) of Law "On Lake Sevan" dated on 15.05.2001 envisaging the restoration, preservation, reproduction, normal development and use of the Lake Sevan ecosystem, causing severe consequences.
The Department of Protection of State Interests of RA General Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case in accordance with Article 308, Part 2 of RA Criminal Code. The preliminary investigation was assigned to RA Investigative Committee.
