"Due to objective and subjective circumstances, the level of Lake Sevan is quite low today, and we must make Sevan a priority, raising the level of Lake Sevan must become a priority for us," RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the RA government session on August 17.
The head of the executive referred to the problems of Lake Sevan during the adoption of a decision on the activities of Police Patrol Service of RA Ministry of Internal Affairs and the water patrol service unit that is being formed within it. The purpose of the water patrol service is to increase the effectiveness of the fight against offenses in Lake Sevan and the lake basin.
Minister of Internal Affairs, Vahe Ghazaryan, also announced that 12 months of service will be carried out in the lake. "This means that it will be practically impossible to catch fish in Lake Sevan outside of the law.”
Water Patrol Service unit will carry out service at Shoghakat public, Artsvanist, Geghama beach and Peninsula public bases. It is planned to implement the service also with drones.
