Lake Sevan Level 23 cm Higher Compared to Last Year

As of December 15, the level of Lake Sevan reached 1900.41 m, which is 23 cm higher than the same day last year and 24 cm higher than the level recorded on January 1, 2024.

In 2024, the water intake for irrigation purposes from Lake Sevan began on June 16 and continued until September 16, inclusive. This year, instead of 170 million cubic meters, 131.038 million cubic meters of water were drawn for irrigation purposes.

It should be reminded that RA law "On approving the annual and complex programs of measures for ecosystem restoration, preservation, reproduction, and use of Lake Sevan" envisages raising the level of the lake by about 21.6 cm per year.

It should be noted that according to the 4th National Climate Change Communication, river flow into Lake Sevan is projected to decrease by about 30-35% by 2100, which will negatively impact the vital resources of the lake.
