Some people made millions from the embezzlement of the land areas in Gegharkounik Region and the state also incurred damage in millions, as Henrik Martirosyan, Deputy Head of Gegharkounik Territorial Division of State Environmental Inspection of Nature Protection Ministry from 2001 to 2007, is beating an alarm signal to EcoLur. “30.700 sq meters of natural resources, which are considered to be national health, such as black earth of agricultural significance, 19,966 sq. meters of crushed stone-sand-pebbles and 63,700 sq. meters of humus (turf). Around 200 million AMD was embezzled in the process of their realization,” Henrik Martirosyan said.
Making his own calculations and measuring the length, height and width of the hole, Henrik Martirosyan found out that 20.595 sq. meters of stone-sand-pebbles was illegally mines, which resulted in causing damage of 205,950,000 AMD to the state, 80,000 sq. meters of humus caused damage of 56,000,000 AMD.
“A person is imposed a fine of 60,000 AMD for mining one sq meter of land. If it’s more than 200,000 sq. meters, then a criminal case is initiated. From 2007 up to now 240,000 sq. meters of earth was mined out and sold, nobody will be taken to justice for it,” Henrik Martirosyan said.
“I have signaled these figures to the Ministry as an alarm signal, but the Ministry did everything to hide it.”
It should be mentioned that the Land Code of Armenia bans the sale and purchase of black earth.
