At Least 2570 People Displaced from Their Houses in Gegharkounik and Syunik Regions Because of Azerbaijani Attack: Ombudsman

Since the morning, the fact-finding work of the Human Rights Defender (HRD) continues in the communities under Azerbaijani attack in the regions of Syunik, Vayots Dzor and Gegharkunik, as the HRD staff informs.

Azerbaijani armed forces are targeting the civilian population. According to the data collected by HRD, the number of civilians wounded currently makes up 4.

According to the data collected by the defender's office, at least 2,570 people have been displaced from their homes in Sotq, Norabak, Kut, Azat, Airk, Tretuk, Kutakavan in Gegharkunik Region, Tcakaten, Shikahogh, Srashen, Nerkin Hand, Aghitu, Akner, Verin Shen communities in Syunik Region. The overwhelming majority of the displaced are women, children, elderly people, including people with disabilities.

As a result of the Azerbaijani shelling, fires broke out in a number of communities, especially in Sotq and in the forest parts of Jermuk town, including more than 9 hectares of territory," the official press release says.
