Tracing Felled Down Forests 2 - Syunik (Photos)

The short trip made on 20 September 2015 to Kapan forestry enterprise of “ArmForest” SNCO convinced us that organized illegal tree felling is carried out here. Short observations made in two sections adjacent to Shikahogh Reserve showed around 70 fresh tree stubs of different sorts and age, numerous piles of timber prepared for transportation, tree felling tools and trucks without plates loaded with timber.

There are numerous land roads running to the farther places of the forest in the different sections of the highway, and if you follow them you will eye witness the miserable situation showed in this video and photos.

A question arises: what do the competent governmental bodies in charge of forest conservation, especially ArmForest, deal with?
