Armenian Constitutional Court to Try Teghout Process

The statement disseminated by “Teghout Support” initiative says that on 22 August a meeting will be held at the Constitutional Court of Armenia devoted to how much court rulings on the lawsuits in regard with Teghout copper and molybdenum mine development comply with the position of the Armenian Constitutional Court of Armenia on access to justice.

The initiative reminds that on 01.04.2011 the Cassation Court of Armenia made a ruling that public organizations have no right to sue based on the mission in their charter, as “…only those persons can sue at Administrative Court of Armenia, who thin their direct interests and rights were violated…” The initiative will also table for the discussion the decision of Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee regarding the international obligations of the government.
