On 9 December a protest demonstration was held in Los Angeles (US) against Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan held by "Save Teghut" Civic Initiative. The protest took place near the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church located in Burbank, California, where the Armenian Delegation headed by the PM held a meeting with the Armenian Diaspora in California. The activists from Armenia also took part in the event in online format. The protest is resulted from the policy ran by the authorities, which encourages the development of Teghout copper and molybdenum mine. As it’s known, the public have substantiated the negative opinion on Teghout project, but neither Nature Protection Ministry nor the Armenian Government called back the project. “Mining in Teghut will be disastrous not only for the entire ecosystem of northeast Armenia, but also for the neighboring regions,” says the statement of the activists circulated in the social networks.
