There is no official cooperation between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the management of transboundary river waters, as RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) informed in response to Sputnik Armenia's inquiry regarding statements made by the U.S. ambassador in Baku.
Earlier, the U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mark Libby, stated that a group of hydrologists from Armenia and Azerbaijan is working on creating a comprehensive scheme for managing the water resources of transboundary rivers.
The Armenian MFA clarified that there is no official cooperation in this field between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"According to the information available to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, interactions on the topic have taken place between non-governmental organizations from the two countries," the statement noted.
Armenia, however, cooperates effectively with neighboring Georgia, Iran, and Turkey in the management of transboundary water resources.
