Small Hydropower Plants in Lori to Pay 29 Million AMD in Compensation for Excessive Water Intake: Inspection Body

The employees of the Inspection Body for Environmental Protection and Mining have recorded cases of overexploitation of water resources during inspections at small hydropower plants (SHPPs) in Lori Region.

 “Arjut 1,” “Arjut 2,” and “Chichkhan” SHPPs, operated by “Lerr ev Jur” LLC, carried out water intake from the Lernajur, Pambak, and Chichkhan rivers, respectively, in violation of the requirements of their water use permits.

A claim for compensation of 16,419,668 AMD has been filed for the damage caused to water resources.

 “Haghpat 1” SHPP, owned by “Ost-El” LLC, carried out water intake from tributaries of the Debed River in excess of the volumes allowed by its water use permit. The compensation claim for the damage caused to water resources amounts to 6,492,144 AMD.

“Pozitron” SHPP, owned by “Ayuda-Los” LLC, carried out water intake from the Martz River exceeding the permitted limits. A compensation claim of 6,068,132 AMD has been filed for the damage caused to water resources.

Administrative fines totaling 1,760,000 AMD have been imposed on the directors of the companies, as the official website of the Inspection Body for Environmental Protection and Mining informs.
