This year the validity periods of 14 licenses issued for the construction of 26 small hydropower plants expire, nevertheless, the operation of 14 out of 26 is more realistic. In 2009, 36 SHHPs should have been operated, but only 12 were factually operated, in 2010 20 SHHPs were operated out of 33 planned.
The difference in the figures for planned and factually operating SHHPs is conditioned by the difficulties that constructors experience. The main problem with SHHP construction is not permits and documents, but financial resources.
