Loradzor River (Loraget, Lernashen)

Loradzor is one of the significant rivers in Sisian: it’s included in the basin of the Vorotan River, which starts from the south-west slopes of Bargushat mountain range, flows through Shenatagh, Lor, Getatagh, Darbas, and Ltsen villages and gets into Shambi reservoirs via two-kilometer-long tunnel. It used to join the Vorotan River at the end of Shambi dale. Its length is 23 km. It’s also called Loraget, Lernashen or Shenatagh in the upper reach and Ltsenaget or Hachenaget in the lower reach.

As of 1 Jenuary 2014, under the licenses issued by Public Services Regulatory Committee, the following SHPPs are constructed on this river:

  1. “Darbas SHPP-2” SHPP operated by “Afamia” LLC, derivation length – 2858,
  2. “Hoctember” SHPP operated by “Astghik-Hovhannes” LLC, derivation length – 520 meters,
  3. “Lor SHPP-1” SHPP operated by “Veh Loren” LLC, derivation length – 3800 meters,
  4. “Lernashen-1” SHPP operated by “Gurgen-Mher” LLC, derivation length – 2083 meters.

The SHPPs pipe a total river area of 7861 meters, which makes up 40.26% of the river.
