The Gegharot River flows in Aragatsotn Region, it’s the right tributary to the Qasakh. It starts from the eastern slope of Aragats at the height of 3600 meters. Its length is 25 km, the catchment basin is 66 square km. It flows into the Qasakh, its water is used for irrigation.
As of 1 January 2014, under the licenses issued by Public Services Regulatory Committee and the main indicators of small hydro power plants operated by hydropower companies, the following SHPPS are constructed on this river:
1. “Aragats-1” SHPP operated by “VACUFLO” LLC, derivation length – 2350 meters,
2. “Gegharot” SHPP operated by “El-Kas” LLC, derivation length – 4640 meters.
As of 1 January 2013, under the licenses issued by Public Services Regulatory Committee, the construction licenses for “Alpiakan-1” SHPP was issued to be operated by “Ipra” LLC, derivation length – 3300 meters, and “Lusarpi” SHPP to be operated by “Lusarpi” LLC, derivation length – 1120 meters.
Thus, SHPPs will pipe a total of 11410 meters, which makes up 45.64% o the river.
