

RA government amended RA Law "On Atmospheric Air Protection" laying down modern approaches to atmospheric air protection, tightening administrative and tax liability for atmospheric air pollution.
At the session held on July 21, the executive approved the package of draft laws of the Republic of Armenia "On Amendments to RA Law "On Atmospheric Air Protection", "On Amendments and Supplements to Tax Code of the Republic of Armenia" and "On Amendments to RA Code on Administrative Offenses". The author of the legislative amendments is RA Environment Ministry.
According to the rationale of the document, the legislative amendments will harmonize worldwide accepted air quality assessment standards and those currently in force in the country in order to limit emissions and the demand for the introduction of "best available technologies" widely used in developed countries.
