Public Discussion on Amulsar Mine: Challenges, Risks, and Prospects

On October 17 at 6:00 PM, a public discussion on the future of Amulsar mine will take place in the park next to Yerevan State Conservatory, near Komitas’s statue. The discussion will focus on the safety of water resources, biodiversity, potential environmental impacts, and the future of affected communities.

“The Amulsar issue remains one of Armenia’s most pressing environmental and public-interest concerns. The prospect of operating the mine raises numerous questions concerning water resources, biodiversity, the environment, and the future of affected communities. In this situation, it is important to come together, discuss the existing problems, hear a range of expert opinions, and jointly consider what steps are needed to determine the way forward,” the organizers’ announcement states.

Concerned citizens, environmentalists, experts, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and, in particular, residents of Jermuk and neighboring communities are invited to participate in the discussion.

Important Note for Speakers:

Those wishing to speak are asked to send a private message to the organizers in advance, specifying their name and the topic of their presentation.
