Today EcoLur has received an alarm signal that the trees in the yard of Hovhannes Tumanyan’s Dsegh House Museum have been cut down.
In her telephone conversation with EcoLur Museum Head Roza Ghazumyan said, “The cut down trees were fur trees, very tall ones. On 12 November 2015 the peaks of both trees were broken off because of strong winds in the museum yard, and one of them damaged museum roof, the other damaged the statue. I’ve applied to museum director and the latter applied to proper bodies. Lori Regional Environmental Inspection paid a visit to the area of the museum and a decision was made to cut down all the fur trees, as there were concerns, there would be new fellings. Besides, the tree roots caused the stones of the yard to get upwards.”
Roza Ghazumyan said this year they are planning to green the yard of the museum either with decorative trees or bushes. Lori Regional Municipality has promised to support them.
