Under Initial Data, Fish Farms Are Source of Pollution of White Storks

The main source of contamination of white storks has been identified by a strict preliminary assessment, as RA Environment Ministry informs about this.

"The root causes of this environmental problem have already been outlined. NABU is still conducting research, but there is already ample factual data and evidence that allows a strong preliminary assessment to be made that the main source of pollution has been identified.

It seems that this pollution is the result of the activities of the fish farm waste and mismanagement of waste, including the incorrect disposal of organic and animal waste generated in fish farms in the landfill site in Masis town. We are dealing, in particular, with the problem arising as a result of the lack of strict observance of the sanitary norms of the community landfills, clear rules, and the current legal regulations.

The inspection body should start processes to reveal the illegalities of the activities of the economic entities, and the territorial self-government bodies to implement the established procedure of garbage collection in the community landfills sites,” Environment Minister Romanos Petrosyan noted during the discussion on stork
