Arsen Gasparyan Appointed Acting Director of Takhtanjyan Botany Institute of NAS RA.

Arsen Gasparyan was born in 1983 in Yerevan.

Arsen Gasparyan worked at Department of Botany of Yerevan State University in 2007-2012, he was the President of "Armenian Union of Biologists" NGO in 2009-2016, he participated in the Armenian branch of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF-Armenia) starting from 2018. Since 2020, he has been the head of the scientific group on lichen research and conservation at Institute of Botany after Takhtajyan, NAS RA. Arsen Gasparyan is PhD in Biological Sciences.

Scientists from the University of Liege in Belgium Emmanuel Serusiaux, Nicolas Magain and Dutch scientist Peter van den Boom discovered a new species of lichen Ramalina and named it  Ramalina arsenii in honor of Arsen Gasparyan, Head of Research Group on Lichen Research and Preservation at Takhtajyan Institute of Botany of NAS RA.
