Alarm Signal: Dead Fish Found in Hrazdan River

Around 25-35 dead rainbow trout of various sizes were found in the Hrazdan River, about 500-600 m above the place it mixes with the Getar River, as Samvel Pipoyan, Professor at Department of Biology and Teaching Methodology of the Pedagogical University named after Kh. Abovyan, Doctor of Biological Sciences, posted on his Facebook page.

"I assume that someone tried to release those fish into the river, some of which were dead or died shortly after release. At the same time, I would like to warn that the deliberate acclimatization of rainbow trout is a highly undesirable phenomenon in the rivers of Armenia, because this species is of American origin and spreading in our waters can be a competitor for food for red trout and Sevan trout and push them out of their habitats," he posted.
