Researchers at Botany Institute after Armen Takhtanjyan Detected New Pear Tree Species in Yeghegis River Gorge

Dr. Zhaneta Hakobyan, a leading researcher of at Botany Institute after Armen Takhtajyan of NAS RA, Doctor of Biological Sciences, discovered and described a new variety of pear, Pyrus hyrcana Fed. var. yeghegisi Akopian.

She mentioned that the study of wild pears (Pyrus L.) is one of the scientific priorities of Botany Institute, because Armenia is the center of the rich diversity of the genus Pyrus L.

"The article was posted on Researchgate, received recommendations from foreign researchers and was cited by them," Zhaneta Hakobyan noted.
