The purpose of the day is to draw the public's attention to the conservation of the leopard population, by involving people as much as possible in the conservation of this restless species of wildlife. The leopard is red-listed in Armenia (2010) with "critical" status and in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List with "endangered" status. In Armenia, the number of animals reaches up to 10 individuals. On the occasion of the day, Environment Ministry presents the collective video of the leopard recorded over the years in "Arevik" National Park of Zangezur Biosphere Complex, the result of the monitoring activities carried out in the framework of "Leopard Conservation Program" in cooperation with WWF Armenia.
