Armenian Branch of NABU To Carry out White Stork Counting in Armenia for 2024

The Armenian branch of the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU) will conduct a white stork counting in 2024 in Armenia, as the Armenian branch of NABU informs.

"Since 1994, the German Society for the Conservation of Nature coordinates the implementation of the international counting of white storks every 10 years,” the press release says.

In 2020, the Armenian branch of NABU launched  "White stork research and conservation" project due to the problem of pollution among white storks. Within the framework of the works, bird species counting, pollution degree and area detection, as well as ringing, sampling and installation of satellite sensors were carried out in Ararat valley (Armavir and Ararat regions).

It should be noted that according to the results of the counting for 2023, the area of pollution of white storks has increased by 59% compared to the previous year.
