Lilit Iskandaryan, a public journalist from Shatin, published videos of what the bears are doing in the village's gardens in "Voice of Public Journalists" Facebook group.
"For a long time now, bears have been entering barns, gardens and yards of residential houses at night, thus causing significant material damage. In May 2024, the bear destroyed more than 100 small domestic animals: chickens, ducks, rabbits, etc. Also, in different settlements, bears destroy beehives, fruit trees, eat or injure domestic mammals. And the most terrible problem is the presence of a bear in the yards of a residential house, when the animal is not even afraid of sounds and continues to use the ripe fruit trees.
The fact that environmental organizations have provided most of the residents with electric fences does not prevent animals from entering, and it continues to be risky for humans to live with bears."
