EcoLur has released its new video titled “Adventures in the Mountains - A New Perspective on Tourism in Armenia.”
Year by year, adventure tourism in Armenia is evolving. New services are being launched, fresh experiences are being curated, and trails are being developed and equipped, making Armenia increasingly attractive to adventure tourism enthusiasts.
Support for the development of Armenia’s adventure tourism sector is provided within the framework of the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project.
In Vayots Dzor, under the leadership of Arus Nersisyan, “Arpa” Environmental Foundation is promoting ecotourism in the community and protecting the local environment. The foundation combats poaching not only through monitoring but also by offering alternative income opportunities to locals—such as off-road tours, catering services, and adventure ecotourism.
In Areni, a new space has been created for adventure tourism—Sareni, where visitors can take part in rock climbing, cave tours, hiking, meditation, and relaxation. The idea was initiated by Antoine Ananyan, Vice-President of the Armenian Federation of Mountaineering and Mountain Tourism, who has dedicated his life to the mountains and to the development of mountaineering and adventure tourism in Armenia.
In the village of Dsegh, Lori Region, “WOW Glamping” tent hotel offers the perfect combination for those who love adventure and nature. Guests can enjoy the forest, the company of wildlife, and even go horseback riding.
In Tavush Region’s Yenokavan village, the Okon Recreation Area presents a unique atmosphere created through the efforts of local residents. Here, tourists can enjoy active types of rest such as hiking along mountain trails and scenic gorges. Siranush Avetisyan shares her story of success.
In Gosh village, Edgar Navasardyan founded “Our Mountains” sports camp, offering a unique experience that combines adventure tourism and environmental education for people of all ages.
Visitors from all over Armenia come to the camp to learn land navigation, pitch tents, cook over a campfire, and most importantly—to learn how to live in harmony with nature and take care of it.
The video was produced within the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by WWF-Armenia in cooperation with the Strategic Development Agency NGO (SDA).
