The dates for the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), to be hosted in Armenia, have been officially announced. Armenia will welcome international guests for this major environmental summit from October 18 to 30, 2026.

This announcement was posted on Facebook by Hambardzum Matevosyan, Armenia’s newly appointed Minister of Environment and Chair of the COP17 Organizing Committee.

“From October 18 to 30, 2026, Armenia will become the global center for biodiversity — the official dates for #COP17 have been set.
Dear fellow citizens, I am pleased to share that from October 18 to 30, 2026, our country will host one of the largest and most significant environmental conferences — #COP17 — bringing together representatives from hundreds of countries, international organizations, scientific institutions, and civil society.  Yerevan will become a global platform for discussing biodiversity conservation pathways, forging new commitments, and building strategic partnerships for a healthier future for our planet.
This is an exceptional opportunity for Armenia to play an active and leading role in shaping international decisions in the field of nature conservation,” he posted.
