In reply to WWF Armenia Head Karen Manvelyan and CNF Armenia representative Arman Vermishyan’s statement that the funds stop the financing of Nature Protection Ministry for especially protected areas and demand to recognize the competition for the position of “Khosrov Forest” State Reserve Director null and void, Nature Protection Ministry has disseminated a statement, which particularly says, “Nature Protection Ministry qualified this as abuse of authorities and reminds these people are just salary-paid agents of those organizations. They are not competent to review the relation of the Ministry with the funds,” the statement says.
When EcoLur asked WWF Armenia Head Karen Manvelyan to comment on the Minister’s statement, he said, “I am acting within my terms of reference laid down by the charter of our organization, WWF Armenia, which is officially registered and is the subsidiary of WWF International Network. Investments into the conservation of Khosrov Reserve were made through WWF International Network and are funds allotted by different donors. Besides, my actions are laid down by the certificate of authorities issued to me by WWF International.”
