Lanjazat villagers, Ararat Region, are complaining that drinking water supply schedule has been disturbed and they have drinking water only several hours per day, which is irregular. According to the residents, Ishkhan Zaqaryan, Chairman of Control Chamber RA and several other people use this water to irrigate the orchards they established last year. Nevertheless, according to Hovhannes Gasparyan – Operational Deputy Director of 'Armjrmukhkoyughi' CJSC, the company has settled this problem on the spot, as the 'Haykakan Zhamanak' writes. EcoLur team has visited these orchards and found out these land areas are located in the administrative area of Garni and Lanjazat communities and are controlled by "Red Mountain" Environmental Foundation. A road runs along the controlled area. The area is located in the buffer zone of Khosrov Reserve, it's fenced and there are signs, which say 'Area is controlled by"Red Mountain" Environmental Foundation. Hunting is Strictly Forbidden.' In his interview with EcoLur an employee of "Red Mountain" Environmental Foundation said the foundation planted 10,000 trees last year. 'The foundation intends to create a rest zone here so as people can have a rest free of charge, while hunting is forbidden here.' The new planted gardens stretch to Azat reservoir. In his interview with EcoLur Garni Community Head Ashot Vardanyan said, 'There is no documentation of the arrangement. They control the flora and fauna of the area. They control around 350-400 ha of area in Garni and also some areas in Hatsavan, Zovashen (current name of Lanjazat)...There are guarding spots and they guard the area together with Nature Protection Ministry. These land areas include both community-owned and privately-owned land areas.'
