RA Nature Protection Ministry is applying to the volunteers, who arrive in Khosrov Reserve to take part in fire-fighting activities to enter from the first gate of Urtsadzor section.
Here the employees of RA Nature Protection Ministry and Ministry of Emergency States will coordinate the distribution of the volunteers to different sections on fire. Firefighting works have resumed since the early morning of 15 August.
RA Nature Protection Minister Artsvik Minasyan informed though numerous preventative measures have been taken, they were not successful in trying to avoid the fire, which resulted in the quick spread of the fire through the area of the state reserve, as well as through the areas of community significance. Currently the fire has spread through the significant part of the reserve, which is hazardous in environmental terms. The fire has caused huge damage both to the flora, burning down century-old trees, and fauna. Another peculiarity of this area is the presence of eco-corridors in the state reserve.
