EcoLur
The Rosalia longicorn (Rosalia alpine), a rarely-met species, has been first time detected in Gegharkunik community, Gegharkunik Region, Armenia. This longicorn is very rarely met: last time it was met in Northern Armenia in the 1970’s. The only one was met in 2005 in Shikahogh reserve. “Azhdahak” EcoClub senior member, teacher Susanana Hovhannisyan found it in their yard among old woods in Gegharkunik community. In Armenia this longicorn was met only in Kirants Village, Tavush Region, near Haghartsin monastery and Shikahogh reserve in Syunik reserve. The main factors contributing to their extinction is the reduction of spots necessary for the reproduction. Dr in Biological Sciences Samvel Pipoyan has described this species in the Red Book of Armenia.
