Floating Solar Photovoltaic Plant with Installed Capacity of 156 Kw Put Into Operation On Yerevan Lake

A 156-kW floating solar photovoltaic plant was put into operation on Yerevan Lake. The official opening of the station took place on September 13, 2023.

It should be noted that the plant was built with the financial support of the French government within the framework of "Floating Solar Plants Development Program in Armenia", which was developed in cooperation with Armenia Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund (R2E2) and French NEPSEN organization.

According to the press release of Yerevan Municipality, this pilot project will contribute to the development of the renewable energy sector and the independence of the energy sector of Armenia. "Yerevan is going to completely switch to "green" energy consumption. The community considers the fields of energy and energy efficiency not only as a prerequisite for building a safe, "smart" and competitive urban economy, but also as an effective way to solve environmental problems," the message states.

It should be noted that the station will be operated by Armenia Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund. It will be the property of the Fund. The Fund will receive an electricity production license with a guarantee of electricity purchase. The floating solar plant will occupy 1600 square meters. m, less than 0.3% of the lake's area, will have 396 modules, each with a power of 395 W. The station will be located on a special island, which will be anchored to the bottom of the lake by means of 14 anchors. According to the plant project, 227 MW of electricity will be produced annually.
