“Volcano” groups have been available in Armenia for three years. The groups have been set up with the initiative of Naturalist Club by Geological Museum of the Institute of Geological Sciences of NAS RA. “Why “Volcanoes”? Because our landscape has formed due to volcanoes, i.e. the landscape zone we have from desert to Alp meadows, which are the result of volcanoes. I focused on this,” said Geologist Gayane Grigoryan, Geological Museum Director. “Now we have 12 groups in Yerevan, Each group includes 12 children aged 9-15. These groups have been formed in the other regions of Armenia as well. During the courses the children learn about volcanoes, how they damage humanity, and what kind of natural resources result from eruptions. They are taught geography, learning environment and nature management, chemistry, general geology, learning natural monuments and subjects of quaternary geology.” “Children should learn more about their nature, their native land and value what they have. In the museum w can prove our children and our guests that we have rich subsoil and w live in a unique and interesting place, besides, the children have an opportunity to see and touch volcanic matters,” Gayane Grigoryan mentioned.
