The United States rejoins the Paris Agreement on the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change after a three-year hiatus. US President-elect Joe Biden signed a number of decrees on January 20, shortly after the inauguration ceremony in Washington, including the accession to the Paris Agreement.
The Paris Agreement is an international instrument signed in December 2015 in Paris and ratified by 125 countries in 2017. The United States withdrew from this agreement in 2017. US President Donald Trump announced during a live broadcast from the White House on this occasion, "The United States will withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement; it will start negotiations to rejoin either the Paris Agreement or a brand new agreement, but on terms that are fair to the United States, American business, workers, the people, the taxpayers."
It should be noted that the United States and China are the leaders in the world in terms of greenhouse gas emissions.
