Extraordinary Meeting of EaP CSF Armenian National Platform 3rd Working Group Ended with Statement Addressed to EaP CSF Secretariat

The 3rd Working Group of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) Civil Society Forum (CSF) 3rd on Environment, Climate Change and Energy hosted an online meeting on May 17-19. The meeting was attended by members of the 3rd working group of the EaP CSF Armenia National Platform, together with representatives of EaP countries - Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and those of European partners.

Two reports from Armenia were presented at the meeting: Marie Chakryan, Coordinator of the 3rd Working Group of the EaP CSF Armenia National Platform (ANP), President of “Public Monitoring and Awareness Center” NGO, presented the situation in Armenia in the fields of energy, transport, environment, civil society activities and the impact on national policy.

Inga Zarafyan, President of “EcoLur” Informational NGO, made a presentation on “Public Monitoring of Commitments of Government of the Republic of Armenia adopted by CEPA (Comprehensive Extended Partnership Agreement between the EU and Armenia), Green Deal, UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and Other International Conventions)”. During the three-day discussions, Director of "Forests of Armenia" NGO Nazeli Vardanyan, Expert of "Khazer" Ecological and Cultural NGO Aram Gabrielyan, Head of "Ecoteam" NGO Artashes Sargsyan, President of "Dalma-Sona" Foundation Ruzanna Ghazaryan and other participants took an active part in these discussions.

The agenda included speeches from all 6 Eastern Partnership countries and their European partners. Further actions and opportunities for cooperation in the field of alternative energy, climate change and financing were discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the EaP CSF Secretariat published an information material, in practice, a protocol, in connection with which on May 25 the 3rd working group of the EaP CSF Armenia National Platform organized an extraordinary meeting (ed. 12 participants).

It was noted that during the panel discussion on the work of the groups, the coordinator of the 3rd working group of the National Platform of Azerbaijan Elchin Sultanov said that after the Armenian-Azerbaijani war their group together with the Azerbaijani government monitors the state of nature in Karabakh, where they recorded that f110,000 ha of forests and arable land, as well as rare tree species in the protected area of ​​Basitchay in the area of ​​Zangelan have been destroyed, the results of which are presented as a statement of the National Platform of Azerbaijan.

The participants of the special meeting held in Yerevan noted that the calls for constructive dialogue within the framework of the Civil Society Forum, made by speakers from Armenia M. Chakryan and I. Zarafyan, although they were included in the text of the official presentations, nevertheless, they were not in the protocol published by the Secretariat.

It was decided to make a special statement to the EaP CSF Secretariat on behalf of the 3rd Working Group of the EaP CSF Armenian National Platform.
