

On May 15, the world celebrates International Climate Day. Climate change is one of the global challenges of humanity today. Global warming, natural disasters, changes in weather conditions have a direct impact on the quality of life of mankind and the balanced development of states.
Years 2015-2022 were the eight warmest years on record over the entire observation period.
The concentration of the three main greenhouse gases carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide in the atmosphere reached a record level in 2021. The annual increase in methane concentration in 2020-2021 was the highest on record. Atmospheric levels of these three greenhouse gases continued to increase in 2022. In 2022, the global average temperature was 1.15 degrees Celsius above the 1850-1900 average.
Forecasts show that by 2100, temperatures across the country could rise by up to 4.7 degrees Celsius.
On April 22, 2021, RA government adopted Resolution 610-L "On Approving Intended Nationally Determined Contributions of the Republic of Armenia for 2021-2030 under the Paris Agreement".
The key considerations considered by RA government's revision of the ESA are maintaining the growth of the national economy, reducing poverty, protecting the environment, achieving the goals of sustainable development, at the same time increasing national energy security, as well as ensuring affordable and clean energy supply.
