The water resources of the Ararat artesian basin are under threat. Due to the development of fish farming, overexploitation of water resources, and climate change, the Ararat artesian basin has suffered and continues to suffer serious damage. In particular, the area of flowing waters in the Ararat artesian basin has decreased by about three times, the artesian pressure layer has been reduced by 2 times, the groundwater level has dropped by up to 17 meters, Lake Ayghr has dried up, and the outflow of the Metsamor River has decreased by 10-12 times.
Ecolur's video "Water Crisis in Ararat Valley" presents how the deficit of water resources has affected the productivity of the Ararat Valley, the residents of Armavir Region, and the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of irrigation and drinking water. In this video, representatives of local public organizations and residents present the problems from their perspective.
