The end of the world scared people, and not the planet; this is the opinion expressed by Hayk Harutyunyan, Byurakan Observatory Director, in his interview with EcoLur. We eye witness global disasters – floods, fires, melting of polar ices, ozone holes. Experts speak about climate change as an inevitable phenomenon which should be prepared to. On this background we predict a stir around 21.12.2012 date. And it’s not important whether it’s Maya calendar or syzigy. As Hayk Harutyunyan thinks, “There are no such scientific observations, which say something unbelievable will happen. By the way, even if a syzigy took place, it doesn’t matter, nothing terrible would happen. The effect of the Sun, its radiation, is incomparable with all the phenomena mentioned by foretellers frightening with the dark, cold etc. What about Maya calendar, it’s just a reference point. The reference point for us is the end of the year is 31 December, while the beginning is 1 January,” said Hayk Harutyunyan. In reply to the question what kind of space phenomena can be classified as disastrous for our planet, he answered, “So far we haven’t observed any external hazardous phenomena. There is only human stupidity, which is the most hazardous danger. I think people themselves have the most effect on our planet, after the Sun. People do everything to spoil the goods granted to us,” the scientist thinks.
