Ahead of the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be held in Yerevan in October 2026, EcoLur Informational NGO is conducting awareness-raising meetings in Armenia’s regions.
Yeghegnadzor Community is rich in natural heritage and includes areas that serve as ecological corridors for wildlife. Yeghegnadzor attracts tourists with its landscapes and is also home to the cultivation of endemic grape varieties, wines made from which hold a distinctive place on the renowned Wine Route map.
On August 3, 2026, EcoLur Informational NGO held an awareness-raising meeting in Vernashen settlement of Yeghegnadzor Community ahead of COP17. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Vayots Dzor Regional Administration, the local self-government bodies of Yeghegnadzor Community, civil society organizations, and active local residents.
During the meeting, Victoria Burnazyan, Deputy President of EcoLur Informational NGO, presented the key objectives of COP17, the targets of Armenia’s National Biodiversity Conservation Programme, as well as the importance of Yeghegnadzor’s natural environment in the context of achieving the targets set by Armenia.
The participants also discussed opportunities for representatives of Yeghegnadzor Community to participate in COP17.
The project “Strengthening Civil Society Leadership and Biodiversity Governance Ahead of COP17 in Armenia” is implemented by EcoLur Informational NGO with the support of the Armenia office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
