Nine new routes have been opened for visitors to “Khosrov Forest” State Reserve. "Khosrov Forest" is an area with a special regime, access to outsiders is very limited. The new routes will provide an opportunity to visit historical and architectural monuments, worshiped churches, Havuts Tar, Kakavaberd, Astghik and Vahagn waterfalls under strict control. The maximum number of groups participating in the routes should not exceed 12, which must be accompanied by specially trained eco-inspectors. The participation of the routes is paid, the entrance fee is 2000 AMD per person.
As Romanos Petrosyan, Acting RA Environment Minister, told reporters during his visit to Khosrov Forest on June 2, 2021, the proceeds will be used for the development of the reserve, expansion of internal capacities and logistics, increase in salaries and development of scientific component.
According to him, this approach will exclude shadow turnover and corruption in strictly protected areas. Route development and training of eco-inspectors was carried out within the framework of the eco-tourism component implementation program, which was supported by CNF, GIZ, WWF Armenia.
