Romanos Petrosyan: More Difficult to Access Khosrov Reserve for Illegal Hunting

It is difficult now to enter the Khosrov Forest State Reserve for illegal hunting, as RA Acting Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan stated in his conversation with journalists on June 2.

"The influx of SUVs to the reserve for illegal poaching from Geghama Mountains is worrying. As a result of preventive measures, 3-4 large "operations" against poaching have been carried out in recent months. Two cases of poaching were found, about which a criminal case was initiated. Persons have been identified. In one case the hunt was prevented, in the other case two killed bezoar goats were found. The criminal case is in progress," he said.

Romanos Petrosyan noted that he will pursue the application of the most severe punishment prescribed by law. According to him, the behavior of hunters was also influenced by preventive measures. "If not to say it is impossible but we can say it is very difficult now to access the reserve for illegal hunting," Petrosyan noted.
