Five solar power plants are operated according to the certificate provided by Public Services Regulatory Commission in Kotayk Region. EcoLur sent a request to Kotayk Governor Aharon Sahakyan to find out in which communities the solar power plants are built, on what lands, how the problems of using, recycling or storing decommissioned solar panels as waste will be regulated, whether the companies operating the solar power plant provide any assistance to improve the socio-economic situation of the affected areas? The response letter of the Kotayk Regional Head says:
"Information is presented on 5-solar power plants operating in Kotayk region:
1. "INVESTMENT MEDIA GROUP (AM-G)" LLC, "Arev" station, located in the territory of Hrazdan community, occupies an area of 0.91 hectares;
2. "ITC" LLC, "Arsan-1" station, located in the administrative territory of Hrazdan community, occupies an area of 2.12 hectares, formerly a land of agricultural significance;
3. "REP CAR" LLC, "Arsan-2" station, located in the administrative territory of Hrazdan community, occupies an area of 1.94 hectares, formerly agricultural land;
4. "ARPINE SOLAR ENERGY" LLC, "Arpine-1" station, located in the territory of Solak settlement of Hrazdan community, occupies an area of 2.0 hectares;
5. "SHIN AND" LLC, "Solak-2" station, is located in the territory of Solak settlement of Hrazdan community, occupies an area of 2.0 hectares.
We have no information on the use, recycling or storage of decommissioned solar panels as waste, as well as assistance provided by mining companies to improve the socio-economic situation in affected areas.”
