On November 30, 2022, RA Deputy Minister of Environment, Tigran Gabrielyan, with his letter N/3/07.2/15243, responded to the letter-application filed by "EcoLur" and "Center for Community Mobilization and Support" NGOs regarding mining expansion in Qaraberd gold mine located in Qaraberd settlement of Pambak consolidated community of Lori Region and the plan to build an ore processing plant.
The reply letter of the Deputy Minister says, “On July 26, 2012, a positive environmental impact assessment opinion (BP-64) was issued regarding the working project of the operation of the central site of Qaraberd gold mine filed by "ASSAT" LLC. The preliminary environmental impact assessment application for the mentioned planned activity was not submitted to the Ministry of Environment for environmental impact assessment and expert assessment.”
