"ArmForest" Claiming that Deforestation in Stepanavan Was Planned

The other day Martun Matevosyan, Director of "ArmForest" SNCO, said about the tree felling detected by ecologists in Stepanavan forestry that tree cutting was legally allowed there. Reminder: In Stepanavan forestry the volunteers of "Forest Monitoring Project" discovered more than 1000 unsealed cut trees. 

Levon Galstyan, member of Pan-Armenian Environmental Front stated during the interview with EcoLur that the area of monitoring is forests of special significance where according to the Article 12, Point 2 of RA Forest Code, "Those types of forest use which do not meet the requirements of the protection regime of a given area determined by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia shall be limited and prohibited in the forests of special significance".
