A roadmap will be formed for transparent mining, as David Harutyunyan, Head of Staff of the Armenia Government, said in his interview with EcoLur. He is also the leader of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) working group. Upon the Armenian Government's proposal, the World Bank studied the mining sector in Armenia and developed “Armenia Strategic Mineral Sector Sustainability Assessment” report. 'This report speaks about big players, who are able to undertake both social and environment responsibility. It brings the examples of those countries, where mining naturally develops and the state policy promotes the participation of big players in this process and not the cases when an individual takes a small mine, sells it and that's it,' David Harutyunyan said. 'We don't have a vision and simply combating this or that phenomenon doesn't bring any success.' In reply to the question how the corruption risks in the mining sector are assessed, David Harutyunyan said, 'Corruption is inherent to our society and we should seriously fight it and we don't speak about mining sector only.'
