EcoLur
On 8 July the public hearings on the amendment to Zangezur copper and molybdenum reserve mining (including amendment to mining volumes, expansion of soil area and prolongation of permit) were held.
'EcoLur' Informational NGO and 'EcoRight' NGO took part in these discussions and wrote an application to Nature Protection Minister Aramayis Grigoryan and Kapan Mayor Ashot Harutyunyan requesting to annul these hearings based on the requirements of RA Law 'On Environmental Impact Assessment and Expertise' and governmental resolution 1325-Ն 'On Procedure of Holding Public Notification and Discussions' dated on 19 November 2014. This application has been published on www.ecolur.org website. As a participant to the hearings, EcoLur has also published its opinion on the venue of the public hearings – the area of Zangezour copper and molybdenum combine and the need to change it.
'Zangezour Copper and Molybdenum Combine' CJSC has responded addressing replies to EcoLur.
All publications by EcoLur don't contain any discrediting or insulting statement addressed either to the combine or certain people. In contrast, all three responses by ZCMC contain insulting and non-substantiated statements addressed to EcoLur.
'… The attention focused on ZCMC is in the domain of unsound and provocative and partial approaches in our perception and as a result of contacts with Inga Zarafyan,' the statement circulated by Public Relations Department of ZCMC says. While the letters addressed to EcoLur, which is signed by ZCMC Director General Mher Poloskov says, 'Unfortunately, in this particular case the authors of the publications have deviated from the very essence of public hearings and attempted to discredit the carried out process performing certain orders or pursuing antisocial objectives.'
Taking into consideration the policy run by 'EcoLur' Informational NGO, i.e. opportunity of free expression of all stakeholders, we are publishing the ZCMC responses.
For our part we would like to mention that our attention is focused on the public discussion process of the aforementioned ZCMC project and we will continue to cover the developments of this process.
