Climate and Energy Problems in Armenian Communities: Experts and Locals Presenting

On September 9, 2023, a press conference was held at "EcoLur" press club dedicated to climate and energy issues in Talin, Aragatsotn Region, Dilijan, Tavush Region, Yeghegis, Vayots Dzor Region and Pambak, Lori Region.

The press conference was held within the framework of “Impacted communities and civil society organizations as participants in the introduction of socio-ecological culture in the energy and climate change policies of Armenia” project with the support of the UNDP/GEF Small Grants Program and "EU for Climate" regional program. Within the framework of the project, document packages were prepared for 4 consolidated communities.

The speakers were as follows: Inga Zarafyan and Victoria Burnazyan, EcoLur Informational NGO, and local experts working in the impact communities,  Ruzan Ghazaryan in Yeghegis , "Work and Homeland" NGO, Albert Haroyan in Dilijan,  “Ecopolicy” Environmental Center for Secure and Developed Community” NGO, Narek Tutkhalyan in Talin, "Community and Youth" Youth NGO, Oleg Dulgaryan in Pambak, "Center for Community Mobilization and Assistance" NGO.

The experts and representatives of the communities presented the problems that require a priority solution in the communities, the ways to overcome them, referred to the programs and strategies adopted at the legislative and governmental level. It was discussed how communities can activate their participation and protect their interests in the process of implementing climate and energy strategies and programs.
